Desert Fate and Kyle and Stef's story.

Kyle is in law enforcement. Turned into a shifter (changeling) 5 years ago during a biker brawl by a rogue wolf. Even though the Twin Moon Ranch pack has taken him in, he has never felt like he belonged. Not in the pack or with humans. He doesn't think a changeling has a fated mate like the other shifters, so he is sure he will spend the rest of his life alone. Always alone. Even when he was a kid, he was alone. Except for Stephanie. She was his one light in an otherwise dark life, for one year. Then she was gone.

Stephanie sells and installs solar panels. She travels a lot, which she likes. Moved around as a child by her military father, from one base to another, she has never really had a place to call home. Never really formed any real friendships, other then Kyle. They just seemed to fit, but then she was moved again, leaving her one good friend behind.

During negotiations for a solar panel contract Stef is attacked, bitten, against her will. Not knowing what was happening other then the need to run as far as she could from Ron, Stef gets in her truck and drives. She wakes up one morning in the desert to find Kyle, of all people, standing over her.

Now she needs to come to grips with what has happened to her and what is expected of her. "One bite to turn, two bites to claim", that is what they are telling her. Ron has turned her and now he has the right to claim her. But, she doesn't want Ron, except for dead. She is unsure of what she wants at first, other then her old life back. But, is there more for her? For her and Kyle?

All I can say is this is my favorite story in this series. I fell in love with Kyle and Stephanie right from the very first. These two just jump off the page, grab you by the heart and ring you dry of your emotions. It starts when Kyle comes across a woman in the desert. At first he is not even sure if she is alive, but when she tries to run she removes all doubt. It is Stef who first recognizes Kyle…a childhood friend from her army brat days. They had been neighbors and each others only friend at the time. Then Stef’s dad was transferred and they lost touch and also lost a piece of themselves. Now, years later, they are once again together. But the circumstances that have reunited them are not good. Stef has been attacked by a shifter with the intent of making her his mate. She escapes before that can happen and that is when Kyle finds her. Kyle recognizes immediately what has happened to her because five years earlier he had met the same fate in a fight with a rogue wolf. Trust is slow to build, but Stef remembers the young boy she knew from before and slowly the come to realize they can trust. As they become more and more involved, they find the danger around Stef is very real. When the wolf that attacked her comes to claim her as his, it gets ugly. This is where the trust they have built will either make or break them. This is so darn good you have to read it or else you will definitely regret it.

I just finished reading 'Desert Fate'..... I loved being back in the lives of the Were's of Twin Moon Ranch, & don't get me started on finally finding out what made Kyle tick. Once I started I couldn't put this book down, even if I tried. I highly recommend you read this series from the start, although each book is writen for a new main character/couple (except for the novellas), the series is in chronological order. You seriously don't want to miss ANYTHING!

Changed lone wolf Kyle, is living on the edge of Twin Moon Ranch, never feeling completely at ease with the pack that helped him overcome the trials of being a changed. You've meet Kyle breifly in 'Desert Moon' & 'Desert Blood'... always there for the pack, but not. Even Cody, the person closest to him doesn't know the full extent of his history, where he grew up, how he was brought up. Stephanie is on the run, attacked whilst at work, running away.. she finds herself listening to her bodies instinct, following the stars till they seem right to her. Her body changing, blacking out, losing days, on her drive across the country till just outside of Twin Moon Ranch....

There was so much history shared about Kyle in this book, I felt that he lived a really lonely life growing up & it showed in the previos books, but reading 'Desert Fate' made me understand why. The growth he encounters, the hope he finds, the new strength he receives, just by being in love, is amazing. Thank you Anna for the magic that was weaved together when writing this, I can't wait to see what else is in store for the Were's of Twin Moon Ranch.... Also I think a spin-off is in need, for a certain pack??
